Beijing Puhua International Hospital (BPIH) is one of the first hospitals in the world, utilizing Stem Cell Therapy for heart diseases on a clinical scale. For the past 10 years, numerous international patients were successfully treated, with the majority gaining significant improvements.

The BPIH advantage is:

1.   We are the 1st Hospital in Asia to utilize the: IGS 730 – A laser-guided robotic interventional X-ray system, providing a revolutionary step up in imaging.

2.    We own and operate a Word-class Stem Cell Laboratory.

3.    We do utilize a first class International Medical Team.

1-    Advantages of Stem Cell Treatment for heart diseases

  • It is a low risk procedure: Compared with traditional heart transplant surgery and other conventional therapies for heart disease, Stem Cell Treatment is a painless, safe procedure with almost no risk.
  • It is highly effective: The clinical tests have demonstrated that Stem Cell Therapy is more successful in producing the desired result, compared to other orthodox therapies.
  • It is repeatable procedure: Being a very effective and low risk therapy, a patient if required, can choose to have the treatment repeated, until the desire healing effect has been achieved.
  • It has a wider rage of application: Stem Cell Therapy is applicable for patients aged from 1~80, which provides more treatment options for both young and even senior patients.

2- Indications
•Heart Failure
•Ischemic Heart Disease
•Congenital Heart Disease
•Coronary Heart Disease
•Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease

Stem cells have been reported to initiate myocardial repair and improve cardiac function through direct and indirect mechanisms, including differentiation into cardiac and vascular cells, paracrine effects and cell fusion
3- The mechanism of action for Stem Cell Treatment for heart disease
1) Cardiac Differentiation Mechanism:
Injecting Stem Cells directly into the damaged area of the heart, intitates the repair of the myocardium by releasing into the surrounding tissue, several factors such as cytokines, chemokines, growth factors, exosomes or microparticles, which initiate various processes of restoration that include activation of endogenous CSCs, neovascularisation, inhibition of apoptosis, inhibition of hypertrophy, and favorable alterations of the extracellular matrix. Numerous experiments conducted in recent years demonstrated that within 12 weeks of receiving the Stem Cell Transplantation, the ventricular wall of the patient’s heart, which previously was obviously thickening in the infarction area, significantly decreased in thickness, providing evidence of its effectiveness.
2) Paracrine action:
Transplanted stem cells repair the damaged myocardium through the release several factors such as cytokines, chemokines, growth factors, exosomes or microparticles, which initiate various processes of restoration that include activation of endogenous CSCs, neovascularisation , inhibition of apoptosis, inhibition of hypertrophy and favorable alterations of the extracellular matrix.
After scientists injected stem cells to treat myocardial infarction, it was discovered that after only two weeks, left ventricular cardiac function improved, capillary density was significantly increased and that the transplant area gave evidence of a significant increased VEGF expression. (Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), originally known as vascular permeability factor (VPF), is a signal protein produced by cells that stimulates the formation of blood vessels.)

Through the above mechanism, the ischemic micro environment of the affected area is changed, as stem cell promote the release cytokines, growth factors and microRNA’s, they also differentiate into myocardial cells, endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, etc.

These new cells then effectively restore myocardial function by restoring the damage in the area caused by the myocardial infarction. As heart function improves, the patient’s quality of life improved and all of this is achieved with minimal risk to the patient health.

Stem Cell therapy is a very safe choice of treatment for patients of almost all ages, for more information and about this therapy please contact our friendly team at BPIH.

Dr. Yanjun JIA, Chief Cardiologist

Dr. Jia has devoted herself to scientific research and the clinical treatment of heart disease for almost 20 years. After receiving her Doctor Degree in Japan, Dr. Jia returned to China and was employed at Beijing Fuwai Hospital, China’s top Cardiovascular Hospital. Beijing Fuwai Hospital is in fact one of the largest Cardiovascular Hospitals in the world, it is here where Dr Jia obtained her Post-doctor Degree and gained valuable experience, including the use of  Stem Cell Therapy for heart disease. As an outstanding cardiologists, Dr. Jia has published several academic papers on SCI journals.

Currently, Dr. Jia is working at Beijing Puhua International Hospital and is the Chief Cardiologist for both clinical treatment and scientific research.

Areas of Specialization: To apply Stem Cell Therapy for coronary heart disease, heart failure, ischemic heart disease, congenital heart disease, coronary heart disease and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
